Visit us the next two weekends at craft fairs!

Time is going by WAY too fast. Christmas craft fair season is upon us already.

Only 8 days until the Bluefield Christmas Craft Fair and 15 days until the HoHoHo Christmas Craft Fair.

Bluefield will be November 13 from 5:30-9 and November 13 from 10-5. HoHoHo will be November 20 from 4-9 and November 21 from 9-5.

If you're a Facebook follower, you may have seen that we have some new items like earrings, new canvasses, new keychains, etc but we have so much more!

Our Christmas ornament collection tops last years. We have more keychains than ever before - the old favorites like Minecraft, Mario and owls, but new items like Avengers, foxes, Pokeballs and so much more.

We have a lot of new earrings - the dot earrings we've posted on Facebook in tons of colors but also a lot of little earring designs made with minibeads

We have a few new canvas designs that we're trying to finish up now. We still have some magnets. and hairbows. Some new items on bead stands as well as lot and lots of regular old bead items (new and old).

We're really looking forward to getting out there and meeting some more new people. If you see us, be sure to say hi. We love hearing from people who follow us online!

Shop EV Bead Sprites at Papercakes Pretty Boutique

A few months ago we were contacted by a local shop about selling some of our items in their boutique. We didn't know how it would all turn out, but it sounded like an exciting opportunity. I'm happy to say that it's been working out great. It's been fun meeting new people and really having something to inspire us to keep beading all the time.

Our items can be found at Papercakes Pretty Nail Salon and Boutique on 39 Belmont Street in Charlottetown.

Their hours for the rest of this month are as follows:

Here's a photo of some of the stuff we sent over the most recently:

Not only is Papercakes Pretty a nail salon and boutique, they also offer waxing services and nail (new) nail parties. In their boutique they sell a lot of locally-made items, as well as a lot of cute, random items. There some new and used clothing, coloring books by a local artist, some paintings, a ton of jewelry. A bit of everything. Stop by to see. There's so much to look at.

As always, we're still taking custom orders to be picked up from us, and we'll be at two crafts fairs in November -

The Bluefield High School Craft fair on November 13 & 14th and the HoHoHo Christmas Craft Fair at the Eastlink Center November 20 & 21. We're really looking forward to them both. Hope to see some friendly and familiar faces!

Support local crafters this Christmas season

I always thought myself to be a lover of computers and the internet. I used to brag that I was one of the first people I know to join Facebook - back when you needed a valid school email address to join.

But some things take me a really long time to get into. One of those things was hashtags. It took a little while to understand them, but it took forever for me to actually start using them.

I don't know why. Hashtags are amazing things when used properly. If I search the #evbeadsprites hashtag, I can see who is talking about our business (usually just me). Or if I click #perlerbeads I can see other cool project people are making with Perler beads, and let me tell you some are amazing!

You can find tweets specifically about a favorite show while you're watching it to join in conversations on Twitter. I did that a lot with Big Brother. You can find tweets about local events and festivals. It's so cool.

Almost a year ago, close to Christmas shopping season, I re-posted this photo I found online to Instagram:

I tagged it with the hashtag #SupportlocalPEI, because I wanted to support my province. To this day, there are only 30 Instagram posts with this tag, and all seem to be by the same three people.

Don't worry, I'm getting to my point here.

With the Christmas seasons soon upon us, I want #SupportLocalPEI to be a bigger deal. I want to support my island, support my fellow crafters. I want to buy locally handmade items for Christmas gifts and I want to receive them. There are so many amazing things being made in our province.

So this Christmas season, when you're shopping and browsing craft fairs, post your findings and use the hashtag #SupportLocalPEI. Show other islanders the awesome items they're missing out on. Support the little people trying to run their own businesses.

By spreading the word, you could be making a huge difference to someone.

Perler Bead Look-A-Like Family

It was about a year ago that we were asked to make some look-a-likes for someone. Eleven, to be exact. An entire family. We were ecstatic. It was a really fun, exciting project. We had to keep it a secret until Christmas, as they were a Christmas gift for the person's family. We've posted a few since then on our EV Bead Sprites Facebook page, but here's the collection, complete with some of the outtakes.

Who wants to be next to get their family in beads?

My Christmas List

With Christmas fast approaching, it's time to start making lists. In my house, we like to make big lists of anything we can think of that we may want, so the other has a few things to choose from. We don't usually get even half of what's on the lists, but they're fun to make and sometimes make shopping a little easier.

Here's what's on my list this year for my fiance:

1. Necklace from Mollycharms. Bottom one is my favorite, with my daughter's name and blue stone if possible.

$45

$45

$52

2. Hyperbole and a Half - book.
(Second one from top *new* = $3.29 + $6.49 shipping)

Free shipping if you spend $25 before taxes, or if you can't find other things to give free shipping, get it where it says "20 New from CDN$ 5.90" and the first one should be cheaper.

4. One Tree Hill season 6 (or 7, 8, 9)
$15 or less. Second hand is fine (preferred). They'll likely go on sale cheap after Christmas anyway.

5. Light grey mitts to match hat/scarf. Take 'em with you when shopping if needed.
(I got my awesome scarf from Green Eye Designs as a self Christmas present. See below)

6. PJs from Bluenotes. Size___.

7. Gift certificate to Rossy's Nails.

8. Gift certificate to Moksha Yoga

9. Awesome mug.

10. Pokemon game maybe. Or something Luxray, Togepi.

11. Bigger makeup bag.

12. Critter Crunch PS3 downloadable game.

13. Colorful, cartoon-y puzzle.

14. Starbucks gift card.

15. Pedicure gift certificate.

16. A book of Chloe and Madi's artwork.

17. Homemade coupon book.

Stocking Stuffers
1. Light blue nail polish (not Dollarama). Sally Hansen is a good brand, Essie. Etc.
2. Decent toothbrush.
3. Deoderant. Lady Speed Stick only.
4. Schick Intuition razor refills.
5. Hot chocolate packets (cool flavors from Bulk Barn or wherever).
6. Straws.
7. Colorful pens for work.
8. Perler keychain (Create your own owl!)
9. Cookies and cream Lindors.
10. Marshmallow, sour apple, or orange cream Big Foot candy.
